The Save the Rain™ campaign wants changes in the building regulations and planning laws to make rainwater harvesting compulsory in all new buildings .
The campaign also believes grants or similar fiancial incentives should be made available for homeowners to install a rainwater harvesting system in existing properties.
The UK has one of the lowest amounts of mains treated water per person available in Europe - and even compared to warmer climate countries of in the Middle East. Demand for water in the UK is predicted to continue to rise, and the Government is committed to building 2 million new homes by 2015.
